How to find the Blade of Mercy spell
The phrase here is “hiding in plain sight.” Sometimes it’s easy to miss an obvious object or the chest that contains it, and such is the case with the Blade of Mercy spell.
To get it, you’ll need to head to the top of the Scorched Ruins by making your way through the cathedral. Make sure to continue up any stairs you find until you reach the roof.
At the top of the roof, when you can’t go any further, you’ll find some locked doors. Let’s open those up to beginners.

If you’ve already unlocked the Scorched Ruins but haven’t thought to explore the surface, you can quickly return to it and start climbing.
If you have no idea what we’re talking about and have never heard of the Scorched Ruins, then you need to head east from where you start your Shadow of the Erdtree adventure and you’ll soon stumble upon it.
A quick check of the location on the map above will help you figure out if you don’t have any sense of direction, just look for the building and head in that direction. There are plenty of other things you can get while you’re there, but don’t forget this important spell before you leave.
