OpenAI has acquired Rockset, an enterprise analytics startup, to “support our retrieval infrastructure across products,” according to a report by Friday’s blog post.

This is the first acquisition of its kind for OpenAI as the company will integrate both the company’s technology and its team, the spokesperson said Tells Bloomberg. The two companies did not share the terms of the acquisition. Rockset has raised $105 million in funding to date.

“Rockset’s infrastructure enables companies to turn their data into actionable intelligence,” Brad Lightcap, COO of OpenAI, says in a statement. “We are excited to deliver these benefits to our customers by integrating Rockset Foundation into OpenAI products.”

“Rockset will become part of OpenAI and will support the retrieval infrastructure that underpins the OpenAI product suite,” says Venkat Venkataramani, CEO of Rockset. In a Rockset blog post. “We will help OpenAI solve the difficult database problems faced by large-scale AI applications.”

Venkataramani says existing Rockset customers won’t experience “immediate churn” and that the company will gradually transition them off the platform. Some of the Rockset team will move to OpenAI, Bloomberg He says.
