The Apple AirTag is our favorite Bluetooth tracker for iPhone, and now there’s a solid deal on a pack of four.
One of the great things about AirTags is that they’re built into the Apple ecosystem from the beginning. It works with the Find My app on Apple devices, so you don’t need to download an additional app. Simply pair it with your iPhone (it’s a pretty straightforward process) and you’re good to go.
AirTags can tap into a vast network of connected devices thanks to the large number of iPhones out there in the wild. So, if you misplace an item with an AirTag attached, all it takes is someone with an iPhone nearby and the item will appear in Find My. Also, once you move within about 1,200 feet of the AirTag, you’ll likely receive a rear alert, just to make sure you don’t accidentally leave something behind. (You can turn off these alerts for some trackers and set up exceptions for them in locations like your home and office.)
If you have an iPhone with an ultra-wideband (UWB) chip — iPhone 11 or later, but not SE models — it can point you in the right direction for AirTag using directional arrows and a distance scale when you’re within 25 feet. This is useful if you have trouble hearing the AirTag chirp (it has the quietest ring of any tracker we tested) or if the disc is obscured from view.
The AirTag is fairly durable thanks to an IP67 water and dust resistance rating. It also has a replaceable battery, unlike some competing trackers.
On the downside, the audible chime only lasts for seven seconds when you press the power button, so you might miss it. There’s no built-in attachment point, so if you want to put an AirTag on your keys, for example, you’ll need to purchase an accessory.
